This morning, two days after my 31st birthday, I awoke with the thought that it was time to revive this long-lost blog.
So, I am flipping the Tourist Information switch back to the ON position.
The posts will still be random in both frequency and subject matter, but they will focus more on spirituality. Not in a Joel Osteen sort of way, though--more like Leonard Cohen (except without the Judaic roots). I am thinking I will dissect random passages from religious texts, write spontaneous personal essays about random and seemingly mundane events, wax poetic, maybe post a few koans.
Theme songs for this new blog include Cohen's "Passing Through" and the original inspiration for the title of this blog, Richard and Mimi Farina's "House Un-American Blues Activity Dream" (which contains the line: "Tourist information said to get on the stick / You ain't moving 'til you're grooving with a Cubana chick.") The Sopranos theme song also works. And Radiohead's "The Tourist." You could maybe also load some sitar music into your iTunes for a pleasant and appropriate backdrop.
